Graveside Services for Markum Earl Stringer, 90, of Wildsville, who passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at his residence, will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 2pm at Evangeline Baptist Church in Wildsville. Burial will follow at Evangeline Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at noon, on Saturday. Markum was born on May 15, 1927 in Sicily Island, to Walter William Stringer, Sr. and Norma Keenan Stringer. Markum proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War. He worked for the Police Jury and was an oil field worker, a farmer, a commercial fisherman, and a jack of all trades. He was a devoted husband, family man, and an avid hunter. He loved the outdoors. Mr. Stringer was preceded in death by his parents; and eight brothers and sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Evelyn Tillman Stringer of Jonesville; one sister, Joel Mae Paulk of Deville, LA; one special niece, Darlene Jolly and her husband Lewis, also of Deville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Truley Jolly, Rodney Tillman, Dustin Tillman, Daryl McEntyre, Walter Stringer and Rich Stringer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Johnny Boyette and Elbert McEntyre. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Evangeline Baptist Church Cemetery-Wildsville.
