Memorial services for Mrs. Lucille Day ?Lucy? Putnam, 86, will be at Comer Funeral Home on Thursday August 25, 2011 at 1pm with Clyde Ray Webber officiating. Mrs. Putnam was born on November 8, 1924 to the union of George A. and Winnie Day in Dardenell, Arkansas and passed away peacefully on Monday August 22, 2011 in Baton Rouge. She married James D. Putnam Christmas Eve in 1948 and remained married until his death in 1985. Lucy Lived in Ferriday and Hammond and eventually moved to Baton Rouge where she lived for the past 32 years. She worked as a bank teller at Delta Bank in Ferriday for 11 years before moving Hammond. Her life was devoted to her family. She was very generous person, who was an excellent cook and keep an immaculate home. She loved to work in her yard, play pokeno with her friends; she walked and rode her bike until she was 75 years old! She is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years James D. Putnam; her parents; and brothers John Day and Jack Day. She is survived by two sons, Phillip and Diane Putnam and grandchild Lindsay Klein; Brett and Brandi Putnam and grandchild Blaise Putnam (who Lucy referred to as ?her baby?). Friends may call for a gathering at 12noon until time of service. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at St. Joseph?s Hospice and Old Jefferson Community Care for the excellent care and compassion received while she was a patient of both.
