Funeral Services for Mr. Lonnie Cotten, 92, of Sandy Lake, who passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019 will be held at 10:00am at Oak Grove Free Methodist Church on Thursday, February 21, 2019 with Bro. Joel Ford, Bro. Clyde Grammon, and Bro. Beau Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Heard Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home. Lonnie was born on May 14, 1926 to Oscar and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Purvis Cotten in Harrisonburg, LA. He was a member of Oak Grove Free Methodist Church, worked as a farmer, and on the pipeline in Michigan. Lonnie was best known for driving the school bus for Harrisonburg and Jonesville Schools for over 44 Years. He loved his country and proudly served in the US Army, in WWII, where he was proud to serve with Red Skelton. He was preceded in death by parents; wives, Gloria Mae Crane Cotten, and Lizzie Mae Prudhomme; two brothers, Clayton Cotten and Roy Cotten; and one sister, Dolly Cotten Bass. He is survived by one daughter, Le Jeune Mayo and husband Tommy of Meyers Bend; one son, Rickey Cotten and wife Renae of Sandy Lake; one step-son, Danny Goodwin and wife Ella of Joyce, LA; one sister, Ruth Cotten Pentecost of Manifest; 7 grandchildren, Danielle Mayo Ogle and husband Shon, Mendi Mayo Cotten and husband Landon, Samantha Mayo Adcock and husband Greg, Cambree Taylor and husband Cody, Blake Cotten and wife Mallory; Haylea Cotten and Trent Cotten; 3 step-grandchildren, Vanessa, Kay, and Patrick Goodwin; 8 Great Grandchildren, Jaiden, Cade, Ainsley, Jackson, Thomas, Anniston, Preston, and Heidi Belle; Special Friends, Shirley Cotten and Jack Dennis Jackson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family would like to say a special thanks to Shirley Cotten, Jack Dennis Jackson; his caregiver, Eunice Banks; his All Saints Hospice caregivers, Mica King, Lacey Mayo, Taylor Esters, and Brian Ussery; and Bro. Beau Edwards and wife CC, Bro. Joel Ford, Bro. Ronnie House, and Bro. Clyde Grammon. Pallbearers will be Larry Cotten, Gary Pentecost, Jeff Pentecost, Chris Doughty; Blake Cotten, and Trent Cotten. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jay Boothe, Ronald Cockerham, Jerry Masters, Jerry Glen Coleman, Shon Ogle, Gregory Adcock, and Jack Dennis Jackson.
